Artists’ alley for 2013: Now accepting submissions

This year, Scott Kowlchuk will be curating the artists’ alley. We’re all super exited about this. Scott is co-author and artist of Image Comics’ The Intrepids, and artist of Oni Press’ Down Set Fight and The Strangers.

Scott is now accepting applications! Please email your bio, a list of your work, and a list of any projects you are promoting, to this email address. Criteria is that you are an artist working in the fields of comics or manga, or closely related fields. Amatuers welcome!

Believe it or not, we’ve filled all spots for dealer tables. But don’t despair – if you’d like to be put on our waiting list, contact us!

As for artists’ tables, we’re still figuring that out. So hang tight, information will be shared here as it becomes available.

Alan Chu was born and brought up in Calgary, Canada. He knew his calling was to be a artist the very first time he picked up a crayon and destroyed his parent’s livng room walls. His creative flavour was influenced mainly through years of saturday morning cartoons, tons sci-fi and kung fu movies, and any comics he could get his hands on…Later down the road he would find Hiphop Culture to play a major role in his art and his life…and so the journey continues…

From business logos to comic books, her illustrations tell a story. She uses a variety of mediums: Prismacolor art markers, watercolours, acrylic, coloured pencil, and Photoshop on her Mac.

Marci is a self-taught artist, with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calgary. Several times a year she travels to anthropomorphic conventions to exhibits her artwork; she was Guest of Honor in 2002 at Conifur Northwest in Seattle and will be Guest of Honor in 2012 at Furnal Equinox in Toronto. Her work has appeared in books, educational publications, comics, logos and in private collections internationally.

“I paint and draw on the iPad. I have a blog about my experiments in recycling vinyl billboards. I have a geology degree and a certificate in visual design. I hope to do some paintings on vinyl tarps, and to make an iPad app someday.”
